I think that the squids greatest adaptation is the ink sack. Well the reason for the ink sack in the first place is so that if there other defenses fail then they still have a full prof one. Well all the other defenses can fail so this is the most important because it is the only full prof one they have. If they have no full prof adaption then they are completely vulnerable!
ReplyDeleteWhile Tegan's comment is very true, in my opinion, the tentacles are the most important adaptation. The tentacles must have ninja like reflexes to be fast enough to catch the squids prey. Without the tentacles, the squid would not be able to eat, causing it to starve to death.
ReplyDeleteI highly agree with Grace. The tentacles must be there for the squid to be able to eat. It is just a rule of nature that living organisms need to eat, plant or animal! The squid's tentacles are what catch its prey. Without them the squid would die.
DeleteI think that a squid's most useful adaption is the beak. The beak's function is to tear off small pieces of meat from the the prey so when the squid swallows, they will not get brain damage. They will gat brain damage because the esophagus goes straight through the brain. If the squid gets brain damage then the squid with be disoriented and chosen as easy prey for other hunters. They will be vulnerable and maybe even unable to defend themselves. Of course, the beak protects this from happening, and so there is no evidence of this happening previously.
ReplyDeleteI think the most useful adaptation of a squid is the arms. The arms are used when the squid needs to hold the prey when it is eating an animal. During the lab one of the extra things that I looked at was how sticky the suction cups were on the squid. From what I observed the suction cups on the squid looked like they were able to get stuck on a prey pretty easy. The purpose of the suction cups is to stick on the prey so the animal doesn't get away. Without the arms the squid could dye because each time the squid would try to eat the prey would get away. For these reasons this is why I think the arms are the most useful adaptation.
ReplyDeleteI think the most useful adaptation is the tentacles. First, the tentacles have powerful and sticky suction cups at the end to grab prey. The tentacles pull the prey to the arms. These parts give the squid an easier way to eat and hunt. I hope these reasons explain how these adaptations are the most useful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Elizabeth H. because she explained why the tentacles are useful to the squid and how they work. In my opinion, the tentacles are the most important because they are used to catch their food. Without them they would have a much harder time catching their food. The tentacles are defiantly one of the most useful.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Nick H. and Elizabeth H. that those are good adaptions, but for my opinion the siphon is the most important adaptation. The siphon brings in water and pushes it out to move, without it the squid could basically only rely on there arms and tentacles to move. The speed they move would be harder to reach without the siphon. Also without the siphon they wouldn't be able to filter feed or produce oxygen, but we need oxygen and with them not producing it there will be less to breathe.
ReplyDeleteI do think that everyone else has great points, my opinion is that the skin color is the most important part of the squid. it helps them to catch prey and avoid being caught by preditors.
ReplyDeleteI think all the adaptations are very important but the two different shades of its skin is a very helpful adaptation. The squids camouflage is very important to help keep it protected. Without this adaptation the squid would have a higher chance of being caught by predators. It would also have a worse chance of catching prey because the prey would spot the squid before the squid could attack. That is why I think the most beneficial adaption of the squid is its ability to camouflage.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Taylor about how the most useful adaptation for the squid is the camouflage but I also think that another useful adaptation would be the tenticals because it helps the squid bring the prey into the mouth.
DeleteThe most important adaptation the squid has is the tentacles. It is the most important because it is a way to get the prey into the mouth without the squid getting hurt. The tentacles have suction cups on the end so it is easier to get a grasp on the prey. That is why the tentacles are the most important adaptation that the squid has.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Grace C.’s, Elizabeth H.’s, and Nick H.’s idea that the squid’s most important adaptation is the tentacles. Without them, it would be extremely hard to catch the prey and hold it so it could be eaten. I noticed when we were dissecting the squid, there were little suction cups on the end of its tentacles. The suction cups hold on to the prey so it can not escape. That is why the tentacles are the squid’s most important adaptation.
ReplyDeleteAlthough I agree with many other comments, I agree most with Tegan. The ink sac allows the squid to get away in the most troubling situations. Without it, the squid would be defenseless to stronger pray. The ink sac is a great defense, and in my opinion, the best adaptation.
ReplyDeleteI think that the tentacles are the most important adaptation for the squid. In the first place, the squid needs tentacles to grad their food and eat it. For example, the squid uses their tentacles to snatch their prey in a flash, but without their tentacles they would be chasing their prey for a long time. Also, the squid would die of starvation without their tentacles. Now you know that the most important adaptation for the squid is their adaptations.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Tegan that the ink sack is the most important adaptation. I think this because it will protect the squid from extreme danger when there is no other possibilities for survival. If there is no other way for the squid to get away then at least it knows that the ink sack will work. That is why I think the ink sack is the greatest adaptation of the squid.
ReplyDeleteSkyla L.
I think that the pen of the squid is the most important adaptation of the squid. The pen helps the squid keep the its torpedo shape. So it can move through the water easier, and get a way from pretender faster so it can live. that was my opinion, on the best adaptation of the squid.
ReplyDeleteI mostly agree with Jack H the ink sack is a very helpful adaptation. This adaptation helps the squid get away from predators. Although that is its last resource if it want to get away. It will try to swim away it will attack the when it knows it have anything else to do it will release it's ink sack. The ink sack disorientates the predator so the squid can get away.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Elizabeth. I think the most important adaptation is the tentacles. If the squid didn't have tentacles the would probably use their arms to catch their prey. It would be very difficult to catch their prey because they would have to get close enough to them to get the food. If the squid gets too close then the prey might start to attack them. That is why I think the tentacles are the most important adaptation.
ReplyDeleteI think the most the important adaptation for a squid is when it changes color. Why I think it is the most important adaptation is because this allows the squid to hunt in packs and to let each other know when pray or danger is near. That's why I think changing color is the most important adaptation for a squid.
ReplyDeleteI think that the one important adaptation that the squid has is the two tentacles like Elizabeth said because I think that it helps if you want to sneak up on your prey you can just shoot out those tentacles and bring your pray back to those eight arms to be digested
ReplyDelete-Michael
I completely agree with Elizabeth because the two tentacles can help the hunt prey. Because it will able them to be able to have the element of surprise on their side and they are able to get a real firm grip on their prey the bring it in to those eight arms.
ReplyDeleteI agree with a few other comments that the tentacles are the most important adaptation because it helps the squid swim if it does not be able to swim it has to be on the ocean floor not getting food or anything. If the squid can't move to get it's food than it can't survive.
ReplyDeleteI believe that the siphon is the most important adaption on the squid's body. The siphon is used to suck in and push out water in order to move. Without a siphon the squid would not be able to move as quick or escape from its predators. If squids did not have siphons they would probably get eaten more often since they would not be able to swim away as fast. Also squids would not be able to capture food as easily without being able to swim after it.
ReplyDeleteBased on the knowledge I gained on dissecting the squid, I learned that the Tentacles are the most important adaptation on the squid. I believe it is the most important adaptation on the squid because it helps the squid catch its prey. Without the tentacles it would not be able to eat and it would starve to death. That is my opinion of what adaptation is the best on the squid.
ReplyDeleteI think the most important adaptation in the squid is the tentacles. i think the tentacles are the most important because it would be harder to catch food with out them. For example the fish may not have good senses but a squids arm length the fish may have sense the squid and have enough time to get away. the squid would never catch enough food to fill their enormous appetite without their tentacles.
ReplyDeleteWell, Its a tie between the Beak and Suction cups. The suction cups help grab and hold the prey. The Beak helps chew down the prey without choking. Without these things, the squid would die.
ReplyDeleteBased on my knowledge of squid, I think the most important adaption is the ink sack. Squids are hunted by many creatures in the sea. The ink sack is a last chance escape from getting eaten. The squids only use this defense as a last resort. If they knew they would have a chance to make it without using it, they would. The ink sack makes a cloud of black ink around the squid making it easy to get away. These are the reasons I think the ink sack is the most important adaption the squid has.
ReplyDeleteI agree with Grace because if the squid did not have tentacles could not get food or get away from enemies in the ocean.
ReplyDeleteI think that the most important part of the squid is the beak. I think this because the beak crushes the squids prey and makes it a lot easier to swallow. The beak also holds its prey in place so the prey can not escape. I'm sure, without the beak, squids would not be able to survive.
ReplyDeleteI think the most important part of the squid is the tentacles. the reason I think this is because the tentacle catches its prey and keeps it there with no escape. If a squid had no tentacles it would definitely die.
